About Us

Stephanie Smith is the principal of the Thatcher Coalition. Wife of Dalton Smith and the mother of seven school-aged children, Stephanie is a political advocate with years of professional experience herding both children and politicians. Stephanie is a cum laude graduate of Auburn University and a cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She joined Regions Financial Corporation and served as Governmental Affairs Director for the Fortune 500 company. While attending graduate school at UAB, Stephanie created and managed the corporation’s grassroots platform, managed state and federal political action committees, and lobbied in nine states and in DC.  Stephanie left Regions to become the President of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce before serving as Assistant Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance for the State of Alabama. In those roles, she was advisor and legislative manager for the Governor regarding budgetary issues and was lead economic development and public finance coordinator for the State. Stephanie is an experienced writer, grassroots coordinator, policy analyst, direct lobbyist, and legislative spokesperson.
